The NetStores Shopping Cart Software consists of the following components:

• A form for establishing a storefront. This form is used to enter all merchant specific variables. These are items such as a merchant account number (for credit card sales), fax# (for order fax back option); search form generator/engine configuration; order form generator/processor configuration and invoice/receipt configuration.

• A form for establishing an account. Some key features of this form are a user selectable account# (so you can use easy to remember stuff like ss# or birth date or phone#); 2 different addresses for residence and ship to address; optional e-mail or fax confirmation request (at your request we will e-mail or fax you every time an order is placed on your account#); option to allow ship to address change when ordering.

• The NetStores^(TM) Search Engine for sifting through a large ASCII catalog file.
  Some merchant configurable options of the NetStores Search Engine are:
  • The number of search fields on the form.
  • A mechanism for anchoring search text from the form to fields in the catalog.
  • The literal field tags on the search form(ie. ISBN#, Author, Title, etc.).
  • The search fields can be loaded with drag-and-drop scroll bars.
  • The shipping and handling charge calculation.
  • Sales tax home state and rate (ie NJ residence 6%).
  • A sequence of boolean search condition check boxes can be included.

  Standard features include:

  • A user selectable sort sequencer
  • A free form text search that matches text anywhere in the corresponding field
  • Optional case sensitivity suppression (so upper and lower case compare equal)
  • A limit counter for limiting the number of records returned from the search

• A form (html) generator, the NetStores Order Generator, that processes the output from the NetStores Search Engine into an html ordering form. Some neat features are a merchant configurable option to process order quantity as a checkbox (good for ordering 1 piece or none) or a numeric entry (good for large and unpredictable quantities ie 147); a dynamic hyperlinking capability that allows items in the form to hyperlink to different objects (graphics, sound, video or other URL's); and the generator is driven by an ASCII catalog file (for ease of implementation).

These components integrate seamlessly into a unified on-line NetStores E-Commerce System that is easily adapted or customized to a wide variety of on-line ordering needs.
