Server security

• Edit the ./dwos/malldata/params.sh file and set the following parameter:
  • ADMIP: Provide the IP address of the mall administrator. Browsers accessing NetStores from this IP address can run ./dwos-bin/dwos-cat and ./dwos-bin/gen-cmnt. For example, "204.192.123.42".

    If you set the ADMIP parameter, the dwos-cat program lets that IP address examine files in the ./dwos directory tree. The parameter for the program should be the filename you want to see relative to the ./dwos directory. (The example files are accessible through dwos-cat even if your IP address does not match ADMIP.)

    The gen-cmnt program lets the mall administrator search a store's customer file. Use the store-abbrev as the parameter.

• Don't give out your Web server passwords. Choose obscure passwords.
• Create a firewall between your Web server and your business computers.
• Read the documentation for your Web server to learn about any special security precautions you should take.
