Chapter 2: Installing and Using NetStores

Reviewing access logs

NetStores maintains the following log files:

• Customer file: The customer file stores the information customers provide when they open an account. NetStores maintains a mall-wide customer file in ./dwos/malldata/cusfil. If you set the CUSFIL parameter (for example, to "$CUSDIR/cusfil"), NetStores stores customer information for that store in the store-level customer file identified by the CUSFIL parameter (for example, ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/cusfil). See "Creating account and transaction files" for details about the format of this file.
• Transaction log: The transaction log contains the store's domain, the transaction number, the store-abbrev, the NetStores interface used, the date and time, the customer's domain and IP address, and the browser the customer was using. NetStores maintains a mall-wide transaction log in ./dwos/malldata/trxlog. If you set the TRXLOG parameter (for example, to "$CUSDIR/trxlog"), NetStores logs transactions for that store in the store-level transaction log identified by the TRXLOG parameter (for example, ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/trxlog).
• Search log: NetStores maintains a list of searches customers have performed in the ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/srchlg file. You can use this file to track what types of products customers are looking for.
• Order files: The master order file stores information about all orders placed with this store. NetStores stores one record for each order that contains information about the customer and the payment method. Following this record, NetStores stores a record for each item purchased. The master order file is stored as ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/ordfil. NetStores also maintains a similar list of open orders in the ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/ordopn file.
• Quote file: If you are using the NetStores Quoting System module, NetStores maintains a list of quotes that customers have saved in the ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/ordqte file.
• Temporary files: NetStores creates files in the ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/tmp directory while a customer is building an order. If you set the DEBUG parameter to zero (0), these temporary files are not deleted when the transaction is complete.
• Next number files: NetStores stores the next number for the following items in the file listed:
  • Customer number: nxtcus (location depends on NXTCUS parameter)
  • Transaction number: nxttrx (location depends on NXTTRX parameter)
  • Order number: ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/nxtord
  • Quote number: ./dwos/data/store-abbrev/nxtqte
